oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Kinja'd!!!

Just spent the last hour walking Capitol Hill trying to find a white car with some silver paint on its front bumper.. no luck. I've always hated leaving my car parked on the street, but now I'm definitely getting a spot in a garage. Thanks for ruining my Saturday, hit-and-run fucker.

EDIT: After examining the wound further, I am starting to wonder what angle the other car tapped me from... initially, I thought it was just a side swipe, but I don't understand how my rim and tire didn't suffer any damage in that case. I'm thinking someone maybe backed in to me, which would mean the paint would be on the other car's passenger side rear bumper. Do you guys have any ideas? Here's an aerial photo showing where I was parked. Someone may have turned into the alley, backed up and hit me, then drove back up the road. God damnit.

Murder them, for they must die.

Condolences my friend, is the fender the only damaged part? I feel your pain...A person drove into my parking spot and claimed that they couldn't see the car....the kicker is that it was a passat :-|
Thankfully parts for the miata are affordable and plentiful

He should murder them twice.

Once for revenge, once for fun.

If they bolted they probably don't have insurance. Our they're old and didn't realize it.
If I were there i'd help you pop the fender back out and try and buff out the paint. Also help you beat down the little old lady who backed into your car.

As long as that white thing on the door is just a reflection, I'd just get a new fender. They just bolt on and it shouldn't be too hard to find a silver one. Then you can beat the dent out and sell the old one to recoup some of the cost.

Sorry to hear that. DC drivers=terrible. Hope everything works itself out fine; that is a really nice looking NB. BTW (on a bit of an off-note), should I add you to the list of DC area Jalops? We just had a meet. If you do, in fact, live in the area, you might want to send me an email. I have an email list of most DC area Jalops and it's always good to add someone else. Thanks!

That's what I'll be attempting tomorrow assuming I can get the tools. Always been a form-follows-function guy when it comes to my cars, but the whole caved fender look is even too much for me.

I agree. I have a Porsche 944 and there are lines on my car that cannot be obstructed. The flared fenders with the rally style right angles are nearly perfect. They must not be molested.

Just the fender, thankfully. Drove it around and it's fine, although somehow the supercharger idler pulley belt was a bit off and was clicking as it spun. Went away after idling for a minute but that's slightly disconcerting.

I guess it's nice that the worst case scenario is a new fender. Gah!

I was walking around with a hammer inspecting every white car I saw's bumpers at first, ready to smash some lights and dent some panels. Chances of me actually doing that even if I thought I had found the right car are slim to none, but I was livid at first. Crazy what a little crinkle in a fender can do to a man who loves his car.

Sorry, man! Capitol Hill, Seattle - although it would be fun to have an excuse to drive to the other end of the country for a Jalop meet. Some day!

Seattle drivers are pretty alright, I have to say, although definitely slow.

Yeah, that's a reflection. If they got the door too, I would have burned every white car in the neighborhood.

Pull the fender liner out and hammer the dent mostly out. Then check miata.net, ebay, and club roadster until a fender shows up.

When I had a NB Miata, I suffered from two hit-and-runs similar to yours. The first was at a community college, which sucks, but at least I knew they were likely broke college kids. The second was at my work, where I knew the person probably could have easily afforded to fix it, but instead decided to be an ass and leave me with a damaged quarter panel. So, sorry for your loss, but unfortunately that's part of the price one pays when driving a small car in the land of Ferd Fteenthousands... :(
